Cabinet
Afghanistan's present cabinet consists of 25 ministers and one senior minister. Each was nominated by President Karzai, approved by the Wolesi Jirga (House of People), and sworn in by the President on May 2, 2006. The previous cabinet was appointed by President Karzai upon formation of the transitional government in 2002. The transitional cabinet was dissolved after parliamentary elections on September 18, 2005.
