Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is saddened by the death of Khan Abdul Wali Khan and expressed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to his family, members of the National Awami Party and the people of the region. .
In his reaction to the news the President said, “Khan Abdul Wali Khan was a great political figure who formed the National Awami Party and the Awami National Party and demonstrated political courage and effectiveness in his leadership.”
“Khan Abdul Wali Khan was imprisoned several times and suffered many hardships during his political struggle and remained steadfast in his determination to achieve his goals. His unsurpassable achievements will remain vivid in the minds of the people of the region and h istory will remember him as a man of will and intelligence. The President called his unfortunate death an irreparable loss to all political circles of the region.”
The President, who is currently attending the 36 th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, called Khan Abdul Wali Khan's son, Asfandyar Wali Khan, and head of the Awami National Party this afternoon and expressed his heartfelt condolences to his family.
