President Karzai Leaves on Trip to Switzerland, Denmark and Britain

Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, left for Switzerland this morning to attend the 36 th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum which will be held in Davos on 25 January 2006.

During this visit, the President will hold meetings with H.E. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, H.E. Hector J. Ruiz, Chairman of the Board and CEO AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), H.E. Supatchai, Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Development and Trade, H.E. Carlos Guitierrez, the United States Secretary of Commerce, H.E. Pervez Musharaf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and H.E. Tayeb Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey.

The President will leave Switzerland for Denmark on 28 January 2006 to hold meetings with HRH Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, Crown Princess of Denmark and H.E. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark.

The President will leave Denmark for Britain on 29 January 2006 to attend a two-day international conference on Afghanistan which will be held on 31 st January 2006 in London.

The President is accompanied on this trip by H.E. Dr. Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Zalmai Rasoul, National Security Advisor, H.E. Dr. Anwarulhaq Ahadi, Minister of Finance, Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Senior Advisor to the President on International Affairs, H.E. Jawid Ludin, Chief of Staff to the President.
