President Karzai Is Awarded the Medal of Leadership and Good Governance by the Universal Peace Federation

Press Release - Date of Release: 24 June 2006 Arg, Kabul –H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, was awarded the medal of leadership and good governance by the representatives of the Universal Peace Federation at the Gulkhana Palace yesterday morning. The Universal Peace Federation declared President Karzai the winner of the leadership and good governance medal for the year 2006. The Universal Peace Federation was established fifty years ago and in the past five years this federation has awarded the strong personalities of the world the medal of leadership who have made significant efforts toward peace-building in the world. Mr. Abdul Rahman Wahid, the former President of Indonesia and the former Head of the Parliament of Philippines are the recipients of this medal.
