Presidential Palace, Kabul: H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, held bilateral meetings during his trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, with H.E. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, H.E. Mohammad Reza Arif, Vice- President of Iran, H.E. Pervez Musharraf,
President of Pakistan, H.E. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations and Mr.Lakhdar Brahimi, Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General.
In his meeting with H.E. Junichiro Koizumi, the President discussed Japan's assistance to the reconstruction of Afghanistan, especially through the D.D.R. process.
In his meeting with H.E. Manmohan Singh, the President discussed the continuation of Indian cooperation with Afghanistan, especially India's assistance to the reconstruction of power lines from Pul-i-Khumri to Kabul, and to the transport sector in Afghanistan.
In his meeting with H.E. Mohammad Reza Arif, President Karzai
discussed bilateral relations and trade.
In his meeting with H.E. Pervez Musharraf, President Karzai discussed the fight against terrorism, the extension of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan, bilateral trade and transit relations.
In his meetings with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Mr.Lakhdar Brahimi, the President discussed parliamentary elections, security situation, the role of the United Nations in Afghanistan and in the
world, the current situation in Afghanistan and the role of women in Afghan society.
The President took the opportunity in his meetings to thank the international community for their assistance in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
