Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, strongly condemned today’s terrorist attack in the province of Kandahar which killed two innocent civilians and injured another 12.
According to reports, a car bomber detonated explosives after trying to ram a NATO-led military patrol, killing two innocent civilians and wounding another 12.
The President expressed his deep regret at the death of innocent civilians and said, “The killing of innocent civilians by the enemies of Afghanistan is intolerable. The Afghan people are facing an enemy who spares no effort in shedding innocent blood to implement the conspiracies of foreigners. I hope the Almighty God will help the Afghan nation emerge from this test with success. ”
The President urged the international community to conduct an effective fight against terrorism and to take decisive actions against its equipping and training sources and supporters outside Afghanistan.
According to reports, after the terrorist attack, six civilians were injured by gunshots fired by NATO forces.
“This and other incidents in which firing by international forces have resulted in civilians getting harmed are not acceptable.”
The President urged NATO forces to exercise maximum caution, so that civilians will not be harmed.
The President expressed his deep sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims, and prayed for the full and speedy recovery of the injured.
