Presidential Decrees
Laws in Afghanistan (until the creation of the National Assembly) were enacted through a process known as a Presidential Decree. The following are a selection of key Presidential Decrees, translated into English for the convenience of visitors to the website who cannot read the original. Note that these are not official translations, and that in any discrepancy between the English translation and the original, the original will always take precedence.
June 6, 2002 - Creation of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission This Decree was promulgated by President Karzai in accordance with the Bonn Agreement to establish an independent body to monitor, enforce and promote human rights.
