On November 26, President Karzai received a delegation of the US Congress in the Gulkhana Palace.
Issues, such as, the United States’ continued commitment to Afghanistan, regional security, fight against terrorism and the Peace Jirgas of Afghanistan and Pakistan were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking about the friendly relations between the two nations, head of the US Congress Delegation said, “People of the United States will continue to help Afghans in their endeavors towards peace, stability, reconstruction and economic development.”
The US delegation applauded representation of women and all other groups of the society in the parliament and considered its role significant in the establishing of a democratic system. The delegation affirmed that both parties in the US congress support Afghanistan and that America is fully committed to its promises towards better future for the people of Afghanistan, its stability and economic progress.
Thanking the US government and its people for their support and cooperation with the people of Afghanistan in various areas, President Karzai said, “Afghanistan has launched a serious war against corruption in which appointment of the Chief Justice, Justices and Attorney General has played a significant role.
