President Karzai Receives Senator Holbrooke of the Democratic Party

President Hamid Karzai met Sunday with Richard Holbrooke, US democrat senator and former Ambassador to the United Nations.

Issues of discussion between the two sides included situation in Afghanistan and the region as well as enhanced bilateral ties between the two countries.

The seasoned diplomat told the President about the on-going US presidential primary race and urged that despite the contest going on between Democrats and Republicans, the two parties had a shared view and a common understanding of the importance of America’s continued commitment to the people of Afghanistan.

President Karzai thanked the people of the United States for the assistance they have been giving to Afghanistan and said the Afghan nation will always remain grateful for the contributions made to them.
