President Karzai Pays Respect to Canadian Soldiers Lost in AfghanistanOn September 22, President Karzai met with family members of Canadian soldiers who lost their lives fighting terrorism in Afghanistan and, on behalf of the Afghan people, expressed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to them.

To honor their sacrifices, the President and his accompanying delegation laid wreaths at the soldiers’ tombs.

President Karzai also met separately with Canadian opposition leader Bill Graham, and Ms. Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, in Ottawa.

Bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed in the meetings and the need to expand relations emphasized.

President Karzai and his accompanying delegation are due to leave Ottawa for a one-day visit to Montreal.
