The three-day seminar was attended by directors from all departments of the Ministries of Defense and Interior.  The event’s aim was to create consensus and coordination among the different departments in both ministries.

The seminar focused on strategic relations system, operative planning, precise planning, operative planning system in emergencies and crises, and the relations among different security institutions.

President Karzai addressed the participants and stated that, “The Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police should not serve the interests of political parties, factions, or individuals, but must work for the interests of Afghanistan and defend our country, territorial integrity, independence, and people.  Our national army is the army of Afghanistan and serves every citizen. 

President Karzai also mentioned that Afghanistan will not be able to lay the foundation for a strong military and security structure unless we learn from past events.
