President Karzai and Prime Minister Blair Meet Prominent Afghan FiguresOn November 20, President Hamid Karzai and Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, met Muhammad Yonous Qanuni, Head of the Afghan Parliament, and a number of MPs, anti-Soviet Jihadist figures, and cabinet members in Kabul.

The meeting was attended by Vice-Presidents Ahmad Zia Massoud and Karim Khalili; Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani; Ustad Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf; Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani; General Abdul Wali; Ezatullah Wasefi; Zarrar Ahmad Muqbel, Minister of Interior; Dr. Zalmai Rasoul, National Security Advisor; and the deputy heads of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament.

The security situation in Afghanistan and the region, the UK’s continuing assistance to the people of Afghanistan, and the country’s reconstruction were discussed in detail.
