On August 20, President Karzai attended a luncheon with well-known Afghan poets and writers hosted by Zalmay Hewadmal, Advisor to the President on Cultural Affairs, in honor of Afghanistan’s Independence Day at the Presidential Palace.
President Karzai praised the role of Afghan poets and writers in today’s society and said, “Afghanistan has a rich culture in which poets and writers have made valuable efforts in enriching our culture, language, and society, and we must continue this effort.”
On behalf of the poets and writers, Professor Haidari Wojodi Panjshiri expressed support for the government’s cultural policy and reiterated their commitment to enriching Afghan culture.
