President Karzai with Turkey's Minister of Finance

On November 19, President Karzai met with Turkey’s Minister of Finance on the fringes of the Second Regional Economic Cooperation Conference (RECC) in New Delhi.

Stating Turkey’s continuing support for peace and stability in Afghanistan, the Minister expressed hope that RECC will be another positive step in that direction.

“In addition to Turkey’s contributions to ensuring security in Afghanistan, the Turkish private sector is also actively involved in the country’s reconstruction,” he added.

President Karzai thanked the Turkish delegation for their participation in RECC and requested that Turkey assume a larger role in the fields of higher education and small loans in Afghanistan.

“Afghanistan and Turkey have deep historical relations and these relations should be expanded through greater economic cooperation,” the President emphasized.
