President Karzai meets author of the “Kite Runner”

President Hamid Karzai met on September 13 with the ‘Kite Runner’s author, Khalid Hosseini in the presidential Palace. Hosseini furnished explanations about his literary works and gifted the President a volume of his new book titled ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’.

President Karzai admired Khalid’s valuable works and said his novels can play a very visible role in introducing the Afghan culture. The president also asked him to work as Afghanistan goodwill ambassador so that he could enlighten the world community about Afghanistan.

Khalid promised to covey the Afghan people’s message of friendship and love to the international community during his tours. ‘Kite Runner’ written in 2002 gained widespread popularity in US. Similarly, the ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ has gained numerous readers, especially in US and Europe.
