President Karzai Meets Families of Baghlan Blast Victims
 
President Hamid Karzai met on Nov. 10 in the Palace with the families of the six legislators killed in terrorist attack in the northern province of Baghlan last Tuesday. The President shared the grief and sorrow of the families and offered condolences and prayed for the soul of the victims and wished a quick recovery for the wounded.

The President said the entire nation is saddened by the deadly incident that killed many people including school children and elderly. The President said, “The MPs were killed for the sake of national unity.”

President Karzai praised the killed six lawmakers as hardworking parliamentarians who did all they could for national unity and solidarity in Afghanistan. President Karzai assigned a delegation led by Interior Minister and consisted of other officials and representatives from both houses of the parliament to carry out a thorough investigation on all the causes and elements of the blast.

Abdul Rahman Ughli, an MP spoke on the important role parliamentarians have in bringing the people and different tribes even closer.

Among the dead MPs was Sayed Mustafa Kazimi, whose brother described him as a man who was working for his dreams of a prosperous Afghanistan. Kazimi did a lot for the unity and solidarity among different religious minorities in Afghanistan.

The families of the victims expressed gratitude and thanked all those who helped in organizing the best funeral procession for the bodies. They asked for the immediate prosecution of those behind the attack.

 

The President is expected to meet with the families of victim school children and others killed in the blast.
