President Hamid Karzai Launches the Action Plan of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Peace, Justice and Reconciliation

At the 59th anniversary of international human rights declaration, the President said, “Only our unity and the realization of truths can rid Afghanistan of its enemies, tyranny and terrorism.”

In the 20th and 21st centuries, Afghanistan is one of those nations that has suffered tremendously to ensure the protection and human rights, and to defend the territorial integrity of Afghanistan. Afghans have a rich culture, and we, as a Muslim and devout nation, have lost many of our sons and daughters in the past three decades.

Since the invasion of USSR, the Afghan people’s rights have been violated. Some Afghans are killed in the fight against terrorism and some are killed at the hands of terrorism and some are killed due to domestic violence.

I am pleased to launch the Action Plan of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on Peace, Justice and Reconciliation. It is the desire of every Afghan to save his/her nation from persecution, oppression and humiliation. Afghans want to gain all rights that the Almighty God has granted them.

Speaking about Afghanistan’s past experience, the President said, “The Afghan people can not forget the pains and sufferings they have endured in the past three decades. Regretfully, still the sons and daughters of Afghanistan are being killed by terrorists and the Afghan people continue to suffer due to interventionist policies. Our schools are burnt, conspiracies are plotted against us, and efforts are made to destroy our national identity.

The President urged the Afghan people to defend their country with conviction, and to work hard, and not to expect others to rebuild their country. The President said, “You must try to rid Afghanistan of its dependence on other countries through protection your unity.”

President Hamid Karzai emphasized the need for protecting the national unity and said, “We can get rid of persecution and oppression is to protect our unity.”

The president declared December 10 as “Martyrs’ Day” and instructed that a new monument be build in the area of Pul-e-Charkhi reinvigorate their memories.
