President Hamid Karzai meets with the Defense Committees of the Italian Parliament

In the meeting, Sergio DE GREGORIO, President of the Defense Commission of the House of Senate assured the President of his country’s continued support of Afghanistan and added, “The Parliament of Italy is fully supportive of the reconstruction process in Afghanistan and will continue its contributions until Afghanistan is able to stand on its own feet.” Ms. Roberta PINOTTI, President of the Defense Commission of the House of Deputies also assured of her country’s continued assistance to the reconstruction of Afghanistan and added, “Italian troops are playing an effective role in the country’s reconstruction and we hope their presence can be effective in ensuring progress and development that the people of Afghanistan are hoping for.” Calling Italy as a country with rich history and culture, the President thanked Italy for its contributions to the people of Afghanistan and said, “The progress we have made in the last few years would not have been possible without the assistance of the international community.” The President added the people of Afghanistan are particularly thankful for the generous assistance of the people of Italy in the past four years and during the years of our struggle for Afghanistan |
