Prime Minister of Italy, Romano Prodi in a letter expressed heartfelt condolences to President Karzai and the people of Afghanistan for the deadly attack in Baghlan.
Prime Minister Prodi condemns the blast as a cruel act of terrorism aimed at hindering the significant progress made the by the Afghan people towards peace, democracy and reconstruction.
In the letter, Prime Minister reaffirmed his country’s full support to the Afghan government in its efforts to face the challenge of fundamentalism and terrorism and in assuring stabilization and development in Afghanistan.
Chancellor Merkel also condemned the attack as “barbaric terrorist attack” meant to discourage all those dedicated to reconstruction in Afghanistan and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
She added, “We must not allow ourselves to be deterred by those forces seeking to prevent Afghanistan’s reconstruction.”
