In a farewell meeting with Mr. Norihiro Okuda, the ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan on August 7, 2006 in the Gulkhana Palace, President Karzai thanked ambassador Okuda for the supurb work he has done in furthering the mutual ties and for his support of the DDR and DIAG processes. The President thanked Japan for its contributions to the people of Afghanistan and reiterated the importance of good relations between Afghanistan and Japan.

Ambassador Okuda said he would always cherish the excellent memories he has had of Afghanistan and its people and would continue to make efforts in further strengthening the relations between people of the two countries.
