President Hamid Karzai in a press conference on Friday seriously condemned the Thursday terrorist attack in a market in the district of Panjwayee of Kandahar province in which 21 innocent lives were lost.
The President said, “The terrorists and enemies of Afghanistan who enjoy killing innocent Afghan Muslims must know that this brave and victorious nation throughout its history have not been frightened by such anti-Islamic and anti-Afghanistan attacks. Afghans will not only stay courageous and brave as before in safeguarding their independence, but will also keep their resolve in moving firmly towards development and prosperity.”
The President pointing at the enemies of Afghanistan and the elements of the terrorist act said, Afghan nation will succeed and continue to live honorably.
President Karzai on behalf of the people of Afghanistan expressed deep regret at the lamentable incident and sent sympathies and condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and wished quick recovery to the wounded.
The President said he instructed Kandahar governor, Asadullah Khalid to provide families of the victims with whatever assistance the government can.
Meanwhile, the President expressed sympathies and condolences to the families of the four Canadian soldiers who lost their lives while ensuring security in the province of Helmand.
The President thanking Canada for helping Afghanistan in many fields said Afghan people will never forget and are grateful to the Canadian and other countries troops who fall victims in ensuring security for Afghanistan to be a prosperous and peaceful country.
In answer to a question about when will the fighting end, the President said, “we have recently taken a number of constructive measures including consultation sessions with the notables, council members, elderly and tribal chiefs from different provinces throughout the country.
Following our consultation with provincial representatives, we have together with international community come to a plan that will help secure Afghanistan. Furthermore, the President said the fighting will be over once the terrorists are eliminated from our soil. We remain committed to continue our fight until Afghanistan gets rid of this menace.”
In response to a question about Afghanistan position on the current war between Israel and Lebanon, the President said, “Afghanistan people and its government feel sad about the civilians being killed in both the countries and wish both sides resume peaceful life.” the president concluded by saying that as far as Afghans have gone through a bitter experience of war in their country, they very well understand and feel the suffering of the People of Lebanon.
