Minister of Justice Sarwar Danish was born the son of Mohammad Ali in the village of Oshtorlai, Daikundi Province in 1961. Following his primary education in a local school, he pursued a higher education in various schools throughout Iraq, Syria, and Iran.
He holds a number of degrees including a Bachelor of Arts in Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Culture and Education, a Master's Degree in Feqh (Islamic Jurisprudence), and a Certificate of Education in Journalism. Minister Danish is a prolific writer, having published or translated more than 15 books on topics such as Islamic jurisprudence, and written more than 700 articles for a number of publications in the country. He was also editor of various legal publications from 1982-2001.
Prior to his current post, Minister Danish served Afghanistan in a number of official positions during the interim and transitional periods that followed the Bonn Agreement in December 2001. He was a member and active participant in the Emergency Loya Jirga (June 2002), the Constitutional Loya Jirga (December 2003), the Constitution Drafting Commission (2002-2003), and the 35-member Constitution Review Commission. When President Karzai created Daikundi Province by decree in early 2004, Minister Danish was named the province’s first governor.
