Minister of Finance Dr. Anwar-ul-Haq Ahadi was born in Kabul in 1951. He has a BA and MA in Economics and Political Science from the American University of Beirut (1974, 1977), and an MBA and Ph.D. from Northwestern University (1983, 1984). He has taught as a professor at Providence College and worked as a bank officer at Continental Bank in Chicago. In 2002, he was appointed Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank. He is President of the Afghan Social Democratic Party and speaks fluent Dari, Pashto, and English.
